The Unsafe Women

According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), in India,18 women face brutalities in every hour. Two rapes, two kidnappings, four molestations and seven incidents of cruelty happen per hour.Yes,this is one of the cruel faces of we "Moral" Indians. Here we pray daily to female goddesses Laxmi,Saraswati,Durga etc.Yet we disrespect the women in our homes,in society,in world.I couldn't understand, what sense of pleasure a man gets by disrespecting women.Aren't we are two faced society.

But yes,we can be a step ahead,by respecting women around us,by giving them equal chance. And as I always believed, charity begins from home.Let's start giving more respect to our mothers, sisters, wives, friends etc.

Well said....It's very true...The
1st step shud always begin from home and i am happy atleast you thought about taking initiative in this regard....We still need 2 do a lot for the women in INDIA in rural areas...Women in d urban areas get chance to study n work but there are so many villages in our country where the birth of a female child s treated as curse to the family and they are either killed or treated as slaves and not given any oppurtunity to study, gain knowledge etc...They are not treated with respect at all..

hi vibhor, you rightly pointed out the problem faced by women.....but we should be happy of the fact a lot hs been done to improve the situation in cities like delhi...and mumbai....situation is at least better than some unsafe european counties....but still the instances of crime need to be reduced.....and for that we have long way to go...social awareness spread through blogs like this will make it just fine in years to come....a bit of awareness and a can of chilly spray will set the situation just right.....

yah, neha!you talked about rural areas. But I am more worried about urban areas.Problem in rural areas is due to illiteracy. But in urban, even if everyone is educated, mentally I find most of the people with sick thinking about women. For them, women is just a material, not a human being, with sensitivities.

Delhi and Mumbai are no doubt not totally secure but 1 year b4 there was extensive discussion on how our unsafest cities still looks safe when we compare to high crime cities of america, england...etc and yeah jamaica africa, nairobi...etc...(eg case of run around killer whos fear lurked at large in 1950 and a series of brutal killings...2000-2002 a psyco running around with gun killing girls....and this are just few of them ....large part of such cases goes undiscussed just because criminals are caught after 2-3 killings....)...we should discuss lifestyle when we discuss such thing....high stress, financial problems, low education, alchol and other stimulants....etc gives courage or rather i should say such uncivility which a man pours on weaker counterpart "women".....unless such habit are uprooted i dont see situations improving anytime soon
